The deceased was Asaduzzaman Tuhin.

He shared a video report on terrorist extortion at the Chandana intersection area on his Facebook page a while prior to the tragedy. The murder is thought to have been done by the terrorists in retaliation for the event.

In Chandana, Gazipur, a journalist named Asaduzzaman Tuhin (50) was hacked and had his throat cut by criminals.

Around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, the event happened in front of the market in the Chowrasta neighborhood of the upazila.

The late Asaduzzaman Tuhin was the Gazipur bureau chief of the daily Pratidin Kagoj. He was the son of Hasan Jamal of Bhatipara village, which is under the Fulbaria police station in Mymensingh.

Tuhin resided with his wife and two children in a leased home in the Shaheed Rawshan Road neighborhood of Chandana village, which is under the Basan police station in the city of Gazipur, according to the deceased's older brother Selim and locals. He was at the Chandana Chowrasta crossroads at night gathering information for the news. He was being pursued in public at the time by six to seven young people brandishing sharp knives and chapatis. He later saved his life by running to the nearby tea and beverage vendor Khairul Islam's shop. The attackers proceeded there and used sharp weapons to indiscriminately stab him in the back, shoulders, neck, and chest. This resulted in injuries to several regions of his body, including cuts to parts of his throat. Later, he passed away immediately.

Since the local plant was closed at the time of the tragedy, a large number of people were in the neighborhood, yet out of fear, nobody stepped forward to save him. Following the murder, the criminals then ran away from that location.

According to the deceased's coworkers, he had uploaded a video report about terrorist extortion in the Chandana Chowrasta region to his Facebook page some time prior to the tragedy. It is thought that the terrorists' rage at the incident led them to carry out the murder.
