Today, Air Canada will start to cease flights.
The union that represents flight attendants has called for a 72-hour strike, and Canada's biggest airline will start stopping flights on Thursday.
In addition to warning travelers not to visit the airport unless they have a confirmed flight, Air Canada announced that it will phase down flights during that time.
The 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which announced the strike early on Wednesday morning local time.
Air Canada "refused" to address important problems including salary proposals and unpaid work, despite the union's "serious" talks.

In response, the airline issued a 72-hour notice of strike. It also said on Tuesday night that it had turned down an offer to participate in obligatory third-party arbitration and that it had received a counter-offer from CUPE that called for "historic" increases in pay and benefits. On Saturday, the strike will start at 1 a.m. local time.
During the busiest summer travel season, the airline, which has a fleet of 259 planes in 64 countries, said the sudden suspension posed "serious dangers to the firm and its staff" and might cause disruptions to the daily travel of around 130,000 passengers, including 25,000 Canadians.
On Thursday, the first Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flights will be canceled; on Friday, more flights are probably going to be delayed. On Saturday, the "full flight shutdown" will start, it stated. Air Canada Express flights, which transport over 20% of daily passengers, will not be impacted, though.
