Government employees' and officials' training allowance was quadrupled.

The government has doubled the trainee allowance for internal subject-based training. At the same time, the honorarium of trainers has been increased to Tk 1,100.

On Thursday (August 14), the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance issued a notification re-fixing the speaker honorarium and training allowance rates for internal subject-based training.

According to the new notification, employees of the third grade or joint secretary and above will receive a trainer honorarium of Tk 3,600 per hour session.

This allowance, which was previously 1,200 taka, was recalculated to be 2,500 taka in May 2019, meaning that it increased to 1,100 taka over roughly five years. However, fourth and fifth grade employees, as well as deputy secretaries and lower, will receive 3,000 taka as a trainer's honorarium for each hour of session.

It used to be two thousand taka. Up until recently, employees in grades 9 and up received 600 taka per day for training trainees; this amount has now been raised to 1,200 taka. Employees in grades 10 and lower received 500 taka per day.

It has now been increased to 1,000 taka.

Similarly, the honorarium of the course director has been increased from 1,500 taka per day to 2,000 taka, the honorarium of the course coordinator has been increased from 1,200 taka to 1,500 taka per day and the honorarium of the support staff has been increased from 500 taka to 1,000 taka.

The notification has mentioned several conditions for giving this allowance. These include - it will be applicable only for the subject-based internal training of the employees of their respective departments by the ministry, division, directorate, directorate and office. This memorandum will not be applicable in the case of training organized by the headquarters for field level employees.

No expenditure can be made for lunch if the duration of the training is not day-long. This memorandum will not be applicable in the case of training under the project. Grade will mean substantive grade (basic grade). The revised rate will be effective from the date of issuance of the order.
