Sajid Abdullah, a 2021–22 student in the Islamic University (IB) Al Quran and Islamic Studies Department, was strangled and thrown into the river instead of drowning. On the afternoon of July 17, Sajid's body was discovered floating in the pond next to Shah Azizur Rahman Hall at the university.
