Over 300 neighborhood groups submit applications to serve as election observers.
Over three hundred domestic organizations have submitted applications to become election observers registered with the Election Commission (EC). The deadline for registering as a domestic observer organization was last Sunday. The number of applications that were filed by the deadline was disclosed by the EC on Tuesday.
According to Md. Ashadul Haque, assistant director of public relations for the Election Commission Secretariat, 318 applications for registration as a domestic election observer organization were received by the Election Commission before the deadline of 5 p.m. on August 10. Thirteen applications were submitted after the cutoff time.

A domestic group must register with the EC in order to watch the election. All 96 local election observer organizations that had previously registered had their registrations canceled, the EC said on July 18. The EC took the initiative to register new observer organizations in anticipation of the 13th National Parliament elections. The EC requested registration applications on July 27.
